ENTRANCE EXAMS AT OXBRIDGE UNIVERSITIES #4 -ENGAA

WHAT IS ENGAA? 

ENGAA is the Engineering Admissions Test conducted by the Cambridge Assessments Admission Testing (CAAT). This exam is conducted to determine a candidate’s potential to achieve in an academically demanding undergraduate Engineering degree course. This tests the candidate’s ability to use and apply their scientific and mathematical knowledge. 

WHO NEEDS TO TAKE THIS EXAM? 

Candidates applying for the below courses need to take the ENGAA exam.

All the constituent colleges of the University of Cambridge require the ENGAA score for admission to Engineering courses. 

EXAM FORMAT 

ENGAA is a pen-paper test with a duration of 2 hours long. It has two papers. that focuses on testing your knowledge and ability in Mathematics and Physics 

The format of the test is

Section 1 Part A: Physics and Mathematics Part B: Advanced Physics and Advanced Mathematics 20 MCQs 20 MCQs 60 minutes 
Paper 2 Advanced Physics 20 MCQs 60 minutes 

Please note, in ENGAA, 

  • No Calculators are allowed 
  • There is no negative marking 
  • Each question carries 1 mark. 
  • In section 1, the scores of Part A and part B are reported separately.

COSTS FOR ENGAA 

There is no registration cost for taking ENGAA. However, if the candidates are registering via the authorized Centre, the candidates need to pay an administration fee, which depends on the Centre. Request the candidates to check with the individual Centre to confirm the costs. 

HOW TO REGISTER? 

Please follow the following steps to register for ENGAA. 

  1. If you are attending a school or college, please check with your exam officer to confirm that your school is an ENGAA centre 
  1. If yes, you may register with your exam officer, providing them with your details such as Name, Date of birth, UCAS Number and the names of the course that you intend to apply for. 
  1. The exam officer will then register and provide you with the Candidate number, which is proof of your registration for the exam. 
  1. If your school/college is not ENGAA Centre, then, you may directly apply to one of the authorised centres through the Cambridge Admission assessment testing website. 

HOW TO PREPARE FOR ENGAA? 

ENGAA is relatively a new test and hence, the past papers are limited. Hence, it is advised to practice the past papers of ENGAA wisely.  In addition, it is advised that the candidates can practice the past papers of PAT (Physics Aptitude Test) for enriching their skills in physics.
