AN INTERNATIONAL STUDENT’S GUIDE TO GETTING INTO AN IVY LEAGUE UNIVERSITY (UG) PART #2

In the first part of the Ivy League guide, we had complete information for international students looking to get into undergraduate courses at the prestigious Brown University and Columbia University. As promised, we will cover the next two options for Ivy League aspirants in the second part of the series.

CORNELL UNIVERSITY

Cornell University is acclaimed for its Colleges of Arts and Sciences, Agriculture and Life Science. The Samuel Curtis Johnson Graduate School of Management is among the leading names in the field of business studies. It is a highly selective institution, with an acceptance rate of only 10%. 

School Location: Ithaca, NY

University Ranking: 17th in the U.S.

Entry Requirements: A GPA of 3.9 is needed for getting admission into the university. Additionally, you will require a minimum composite score of 32 ACT or a 1500 SAT score to make it. The English proficiency test requirements are a TOEFL iBT score of 100 plus or an IELTS score of 7.0.

Application Procedure: In addition to the test transcripts, you will have to submit the registrar report, mid-term report, two letters of recommendation, and Cornell Questions and Writing Supplement (CA) or Transfer Supplement (UCA) with the application. Aspirants have to appear for interviews for the School of Hotel Administration and College of Architecture Art and Planning. Portfolio and design submission could be required according to the courses taken up.

When To Apply: Nov 1 for Early Decision/ Jan 5 for Regular Decision*

DARTMOUTH COLLEGE

One of the oldest schools in the country, Dartmouth University is acclaimed for the research and study abroad opportunities it offers. The most popular undergraduate streams to study here are Computer Science, Political Science, and Economics. The acceptance rate sits at 8.8%, making it one of the most competitive Ivy League institutions.

School Location: Hanover, New Hampshire

University Ranking: 12th in the U.S.

Entry Requirements: The average GPA requirement for the university is 4.11. The average ACT score requirement is 33, while you will need a composite SAT score of 1500 to crack admission. For English proficiency, the test requirements are a TOEFL iBT score of 100 plus, 120 plus on Duolingo, or an IELTS score of 7.0.

Application Procedure: You will need your test transcripts along with the official transcripts from your school at the time of application. Currently, a health examination report form is also a part of the process. Other documents include your personal essay, letter of recommendations from counsellors and teachers, certificate of finances, and immigration document. Peer recommendation is optional.
