An unprecedented delay in opening up Australian borders for international students has sent them looking for other options. Britain is emerging as the most popular study abroad destination for these stranded students as a growing number of them are transferring to UK universities. According to recent data, the number of applications from Chinese students has gone up by 21 per cent, while the number for Indians has increased by 17 per cent.

THE UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH WALES AND QA LAUNCH NEW PATHWAY

UK’s University of South Wales and QA Higher Education have come together to offer pathway and English-language programmes for international students. These will be available to the students at the Cardiff and Pontypridd campuses of the university. The new International Pathway College will help international students to eventually progress to courses in the fields of Business, Engineering, Computing, and Creative Industries, Sports Science, and Applied Science.

DUTCH HIGHER EDUCATION ATTRACTS INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS WITH ITS HIGH QUALITY

According to recent research by the Dutch organisation for internationalisation in education, a large number of international students validated their intention to study at Dutch higher education institutions in the coming academic year. Around three out of four students who participated in the survey stated that they wanted to pick the country as their study abroad destination due to the high-quality standards it offers.

US STARTS PROCESSING STUDENT VISAS FOR CHINESE INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

After months of uncertainties and apprehension, Chinese international students took a sigh of relief as the US Embassy in Beijing announced that the processing of student visas would resume in May. They plan to handle as many as 2,000 applications a day by the mid of the month. There will be 100 visa officers along with 100 visa officers to process the new applications.

STUDENTS OF BIHAR GOVERNMENT SCHOOL TO START CLASSES VIA DD BIHAR FROM MAY 10

Bihar is geared up to launch a new initiative by conducting classes over television through DD Bihar. The classes are scheduled to start from May 10 will be attended by students of classes 9 to 12 in the government schools. In addition to covering the school syllabus, the classes will educate and encourage pupils to stay fit and safe amid the pandemic without being affected psychologically.

‘DOST FOR LIFE’ MOBILE APP FOR COUNSELING CBSE STUDENTS FROM CLASS 9 TO 12

The CBSE has recently launched a mobile app named ‘dost for life’ to counsel students from class 9 to 12 and help them deal with mental health issues amid the ongoing COVID pandemic. Students and parents can access it to get answers to queries on health, education, and social topics. The objective of the app is to enhance the psychosocial wellness of students.
