SCHOOLS IN ENGLAND TO GET NHS VISITS FOR VACCINATING 12-15 YEAR-OLD STUDENTS

NHS stated that its health teams will reach out to more than 800 schools in England to vaccinate children aged 12-15. The country has already vaccinated 600,000 young people after the vaccine rollout was extended at the end of September to include 12 to 15-year-olds.

ENVIRONMENTAL IMPACT RATING INTRODUCED BY QS

Quacquarelli Symonds, the leading global higher education company, has come up with a new category focusing on environmental impact in their university rating system. Currently, its rating system rates over 600 international universities in three criteria, namely core criteria, specialist criteria, and advanced criteria. The new category was introduced after a student survey found that 94% of the participating students thought universities should do more to be sustainable.

UNIVERSITIES MUST ADOPT TECHNOLOGY TO HELP STUDENTS BEYOND EDUCATION

The pandemic has fuelled tech adoption by universities as they embraced it to impart remote education to students around the world. As campuses reopen, the new normal technology still plays a crucial role in hybrid learning. But it is high time for universities to look beyond lecture halls and adopt technology to help students. It can serve as a bridge for international students even if they cannot be there for on-campus studies.

CBSE, UGC, NCERT, AICTE, CENTRE COLLABORATE TO MAKE EDUCATION EMPLOYMENT-FOCUSED

The Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship is all set to collaborate with seven national educational institutions, such as CBSE, UGC, NCERT, AICTE, and higher education departments, for launching a joint campaign. A report by Colleges and Institutes Canada suggested that the Canadian government should come up with new permanent residency streams for international students completing their studies from colleges and institutes in the country. It stated that Canada must tap into the global talent pipeline to drive prosperity amid low birth rates and demographic shifts.

A recent announcement by the Australian Capital Territory Government on bringing back fully vaccinated international tertiary education students for the start of the 2022 academic year has brought hopes for the recovery of the sector. But industry players are concerned because they still do not have a firm date for reopening and want one at the earliest.

NEW ZEALAND WILL BRING BACK 1,000 STUDENTS IN 2022

After an extended shutdown amid the pandemic, the government of New Zealand has announced that it will permit 1,000 select international students to land from early 2022. The border class exception will allow 300 students at the sub-degree level, 300 students at degree level and above, and 400 pilot trainees to arrive. Education providers will nominate students from October 2021.
