PROBLEMS FOR UK-BASED STUDENTS AS UNIVERSITIES PRIORITISE LUCRATIVE OVERSEAS FEES
The pandemic has hit the students hard, and UK–based students are bearing the worst impact as universities in the country focus more on lucrative overseas fees. They still refuse to reinstate face-to-face lectures, causing extensive damage to the degree experience of students. It is easy to understand their plight as they miss the on-campus classes and online education hardly makes up for the loss.

UCL TO DEPEND ON INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS TO MANAGE THE COST OF UNDERGRADUATE PROGRAMMES
University College London will have to rely on international student fees to support the education of British undergraduates. The tuition fees of home students alone are not adequate to cover the cost of undergraduate courses. The institution has voiced concerns over the funding of undergraduate courses in the future.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS ARRIVE IN THE NETHERLANDS AS THE ACADEMIC YEAR BEGINS
A large number of international students from outside of the EU arrived in the Netherlands in the first week of September with the beginning of the new academic session. The Dutch Immigration and Naturalisation Service (IND) has reported a considerable increase in the number of study permits issued this year. Around 10% more international students from outside of the EU are expected to attend universities in the country this year compared to 2020.

INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS IN CANADA STRESSED ABOUT UNAFFORDABLE COURSE WITHDRAWAL
International students in Canada have expressed their concerns about the unaffordable courses in the country. They are unable to withdraw from their programmes and claim refunds because of the rigid policies. Visa processing delays have made things even worse for them. Many students have been waiting for extended periods of time to get their applications processed.

CBSE TO LAUNCH EKLAVYA SERIES BY PARTNERING WITH IIT GANDHINAGAR UNDER NEP 2020
CBSE and IIT Gandhinagar have collaborated to launch the Eklavya series to ensure student-friendliness in the implementation of NEP 2020. According to CBSE, the initiative aims to nurture creativity, conceptual understanding, and out-of-the-box thinking in the students. The Eklavya series will have brain-challenging activities, practical projects, critical questions, assignments, and conceptual understanding models.

IMPORTANT NOTICE FOR UG ADMISSIONS 2021 BY AICTE ON AICTE-INDIA.ORG
All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has recently released an important notice regarding Undergraduate Admissions 2021 on its website. The notice relates to the admissions of CBSE, Private/Patrachar, and Second Compartment students. All students in these categories will be granted Provisional admissions by Universities, Deemed-to-be-Universities, and Institutions even as they await the declaration of their results.

UAE PRIVATE SCHOOL MARKET IS THE LARGEST IN THE WORLD AND POISED FOR FURTHER GROWTH
A recent report states that international schools in the Middle East and North Africa have witnessed a massive growth in enrolment over the past six years. The UAE has emerged as the topper in pupil numbers, with 725 international schools having a total of 696,600 pupils. Dubai alone has 333 international schools, which is the highest number for any city worldwide.

TALIBAN ALLOW AFGHAN WOMEN TO STUDY IN GENDER-SEGREGATED UNIVERSITIES

The new Taliban government will allow women in Afghanistan to continue with university education, including post-graduate studies, but they will have to study in gender-segregated classrooms. Additionally, they will be required to follow the Islamic dress code according to the new policies issued by the current government.

LENGTHY DELAYS IN UK VISA APPLICATIONS FOR CHINESE STUDENTS
Chinese students have experienced extended delays in their UK visa applications in China. Many are blaming the services of the visa processing contractor for the UK government. Some have also stated that they have paid fees to individuals claiming to work at the UK visa centres in China.

SPORTS PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN STIRLING AND CHENGDU
In a recent announcement, the University of Stirling in Scotland has joined hands with Chengdu University in China to launch a sports-focused partnership. The Chengdu University – Stirling College in Chengdu, Sichuan province, will offer degree programmes in Sports Studies, Digital Media, and Data Science.
