THE UK-INDIA YOUNG PROFESSIONALS SCHEME: 3,000 INDIAN GRADUATES TO WORK IN THE UK

In a recent meeting with Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak has given access to 3,000 visas for educated Indian professionals between the ages of 18 and 30 to live and work in the country each year. This would also make India the first country to get the perks of such a large-scale scheme. The people benefitted from this scheme will be provided with an opportunity to work in the UK for up to two years.

This would increase mobility between the two countries with a limited number of people. According to Downing Street, this would also help form a stronger relationship with the Indo-Pacific region and strengthen both economies as Indian students form a large portion of International Students that the UK lodges.

Eligibility

  • These Visas will be offered to people between the ages of 18-30
  • The individual must have a valid degree and education qualifications.
  • The education qualification must be equivalent to at least 3 years of higher education.
  • Specifications regarding qualifications and language requirements are not yet mentioned.

The formal eligibility requirements are yet to be announced.

Procedure

Though the procedure for this process has not been announced yet, it is safe to assume that the 3,000 individuals among the hoards of applications would be hand-picked by the responsible authorities. The reason and the category of the visa application might be severely scrutinized for this process. This may be due to the fact that Indian Investment supports up to 95,000 jobs across the UK, making the selection process cater to those requirements as well.

Since this is a recent occurrence, the details of this scheme have not been made public. Stay tuned for more updates regarding the same in future!
