SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS

Description:  SINGA is an international graduate award given to international students with excellent academic results and a passion for research. Eligible international students who are interested to pursue PhD programs in Singapore can apply for the Singapore International Graduate Award open for January 2022 intake.

Number of Awards: SINGA awards are offered twice — for August and January intakes — during the academic year. It is a merit-based scholarship where all outstanding candidates will be considered for award.

Duration of the Scholarship: SINGA scholarship award provides support for all the eligible international students for up to 4-year PhD Studies, during which it covers full tuition fee and monthly stipend along with one time air fare grant and settling-in allowance.

Value of the Scholarship: Singapore International Graduate Award covers

  1. Tuition fees
  2. Monthly stipend of S$2,000, which will be increased to S$2,500 after the passing of the Qualifying Examination
  3. One-time airfare grant of up to S$1,500*
  4. One-time settling-in allowance of S$1,000*

Benefits: The SINGA award benefits passionate international students who are interested to pursue PhD in Singapore, by providing a fully-funded scholarship during the 4-year PhD studies.

Eligibility Requirements:

To be eligible for the Singapore International Graduate Award applicants must

  1. Be an international graduate with a strong passion for research.
  2. Have excellent academic results in their previous degree.
  3. Have good written and spoken English skills.
  4. Have good reports from academic referees.

How to apply:

The scholarship applications for January 2022 intake are now open. To apply for the scholarship award

  1. Browse the PhD research projects you are interested in.
  2. Prepare the required documents and transcripts and reports.
  3. Universities may request to submit GRE / IELTS / TOEFL / SAT I & II / GATE results as a part of their admission process.

Assessment Process

The submitted applications are assessed and all the shortlisted candidates will be notified within 12 weeks from the application closing date.

ABOUT SINGAPORE INTERNATIONAL GRADUATE AWARD (SINGA)

The Singapore International Graduate Award (SINGA) is a collaboration between the Agency for Science, Technology & Research (A*STAR), the Nanyang Technological University (NTU), the National University of Singapore (NUS), the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) and the Singapore Management University (SMU).

Students will be supervised by international researchers at A*STAR Research Institutes, NTU, NUS, SUTD or SMU. Passionate students from all over the world who wish to study PhD programs in Singapore can apply for this fully funded SINGA scholarship and take their research career to greater heights. At Singapore, students can experience a vibrant and culturally diverse research community.  Upon successful completion, students will be conferred a PhD degree by either NTU, NUS, SUTD or SMU.
