SCHOOL CLOSURE UPDATES IN INDIA AMID THE OMICRON SURGE

The unprecedented surge in the cases of Omicron across India has brought new concerns for the country. While the vaccination drive for children in the 15-18 year age group started on January 3, several state governments have gone on the back foot with school closures. They have decided to shut down classes in physical mode to curb the spread of infection.

The objective is to ensure the safety of school-going children amid the ongoing threat. Besides schools, state governments have also announced the closure of colleges and other educational institutions. The announcement comes as schools in many states are already having winter vacations, while others are conducting classes online. Here are the guidelines on school closures in different states and UTs.
