Level of Study: Undergraduate and Graduate

Deadline: July 20, 2021, 5 p.m. (For students who are currently studying at the University of Tsukuba)
By September 3, 2021, 5 p.m. (For students who will enter to University of Tsukuba on October 2021 or on April 2022)

Start-Date: October 2021

Value: Undergraduate student:150,000 yen per month

Graduate student: 180,000 yen per month


SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS

The Sato Yo International Scholarship Foundation is recruiting undergraduate and graduate students for privately funded study abroad scholarships in the fall. The foundation recruits twice a year, in spring and autumn. Interested applicants can apply through the International Student Division of the university.

Number of Awards: About 15

Duration of the Scholarship: The scholarship period is for 2 years.

  1. Privately funded study abroad scholarship for the October 2021 period: From October 2021 to September 2023
  2.  Privately funded study abroad scholarships for the April 2022 period: From April 2022 to March 2024

Benefits: The selected undergraduate and graduate applicants for the privately funded study abroad scholarships are benefited with the monthly scholarships and tuition assistance. The scholarship period is for 2 years.

  1. Undergraduate students are provided with 150,000 yen per month.
  2. Graduate students are provided with 180,000 yen per month.
  3. Provides tuition assistance for both undergraduate and graduate students.
  4. Graduate students are offered Conference attendance subsidy

APPLICATION DETAILS

Eligibility Requirements:

  1. This scholarship applies to international students who are studying abroad in Japan from the target country at their own expense and who have or are expected to pass the regular course at a Japanese university.
  2. Applicants must refer to the Foundation application guidelines provided on the official website to check the eligibility criteria.

How to apply:

Documents Required:

  1. Request form paper
  2. Resume -1 (Form 1)
  3. Resume -2 (Form 2)
  4. Essay
  5. Letter of recommendation
  6. Evaluation report
  7. Academic transcripts
  8. Research achievements (only for graduate students)
  9. Research plan (only for graduate students)
  10. Certificate of acceptance in case of new transfer/new entry

NOTE: Applicants can download the required documents and application guidelines in from the official website

Application Procedure:

  1. Download the application guidelines from the official website.
  2. Get approval for application from the university.
  3. Obtain a management number with the consent of the application from the International Student Division of the university you are going to study at.
  4. Tell your academic advisor the management number and request a letter of recommendation.
  5. Enter the required information in the application form on the homepage and obtain the “reception number”.
  6. Create the documents to be submitted and convert them to PDF.
  7. Submit your documents to Student Exchange Division Office (University Hall C Building 9P210.
  8.  The International Student Division collects and uploads the submitted documents.
  9. Applicants can refer the scholarship rules before applying.
