SCHOLARSHIP DETAILS

Description: Taiwan fellowship is established and funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA). The main aim of this scholarship is to award foreign experts and scholars interested to pursue research in Taiwan in the related research themes. The applications for MOFA Taiwan fellowship 2022 are now open and interested candidates can apply before the deadline. Selected candidates are provided with an opportunity to conduct advanced research at one of the academic institutions in Taiwan.

Number of Awards: Up to 12 fellowship positions

Duration of the Scholarship: The fellowship if offered for a duration of 3 to 12 months and must take place within 2022. The fellowship cannot be extended to the next year 2023.

Benefits: MOFA Taiwan Scholarship provides successful applicants with the following financial assistance, air ticket subsidy and medical insurance.

  1. Monthly grants are offered at the beginning of every month.
  2. Research grant for Professors, associate professors, research fellows, or associate research fellows is NT$60,000.
  3. Research grant for Assistant professors, assistant research fellows, or doctoral candidates is NT$50,000.
  4. Air ticket subsidy covering One round-trip, economy-class ticket for the most direct route to Taiwan as decided by MOFA.
  5. Selected candidates will also receive accident insurance (plus medical insurance for accidental injuries) coverage of NT$1 million.

Eligibility Requirements:

To be eligible to apply for Taiwan Fellowship 2022 offered by Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA)

  1. Applicants from all over the world are eligible to apply.
  2. Applicants must be foreign professors, associate professors, assistant professors, post-doctoral researchers, doctoral candidates, or doctoral program students at related departments of overseas universities
  3. Applicants can also be research fellows at an equivalent level in academic institutions abroad.
  4. Candidates who are eligible to apply for the Taiwan fellowship has to choose from one of the research themes offered by the institution.

How to apply:

To apply to Taiwan Fellowships, candidates must

  1. It is important to read the application guidelines before applying to the fellowship.
  2. Prepare the required documents
  3. Resume (including a publication list)
  4. Research proposal
  5. Two letters of recommendation or one letter of recommendation and one letter of agreement from the highest administrative director of your institution
  6. Fill in the online application form and submit the above documents.
  7. Applicants should print their complete application form and send all application documents to an R.O.C(Taiwan) Embassy or Representative Office by post.

Assessment Process:

Based on the comments from ROC (Taiwan) Embassy or Representative Office, the candidates will be selected and informed by email. The selected candidates have to follow the information provided in the application guidelines to obtain the Grant Authorization letter.

ABOUT MOFA TAIWAN FELLOWSHIP

The MOFA Taiwan Scholarship is established and funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA) to award foreign experts and scholars interested in researches related to Taiwan, cross-strait relations, Asia-Pacific region and Sinology to conduct advanced research at universities or academic institutions in Taiwan. Up to now, there have been 1117 scholars from 83 countries accepted by this program.

Taiwan scholarships encourages talented students to pursue their higher education in Taiwan thereby promoting exchanges and building good relationship between Taiwan and their home nations. MOFA Taiwan Fellowship for international students is open in May and June every year. Selected students can start performing their academic research at Taiwan academic institutions in January 2022
