Indian Universities Urged To Setup International Affairs Office By UGC

The University Grants Commission (UGC) directed universities across the country to establish an office for International affairs in the campuses to promote India as a global study destination, in line with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, India.

Prof. Rajnish Jain, Secretary of UGC (Ministry of Education) emphasised the need for expanding the global outreach of Indian higher education institutions by promoting India as a global study destination with intensive study and research collaboration with foreign HEIs. As per his letter, it is stated that this International Affairs Office will become an important aspect for

  • foreign student welcome & support
  • international collaboration with foreign institutions
  • international education partnerships
  • promotional activities & brand building abroad.
  • enable student networking.
  • addressing the grievances of foreign students
  • helping foreign students adapt to the new cultural environment in India.
