GOOD NEWS FOR AUSTRALIAN STUDY ABROAD ASPIRANTS- SPECIAL PERMISSION TO LAND WITHOUT QUARANTINE

After a tough year, finally, some good news is here for Australian study abroad aspirants. International students will now get special permission to land in the country without quarantine on-arrival requirements. However, the government will implement some stringent measures to avert the spread of COVID.

The country expects to let the international students come back in the August semester, although the country’s border will be closed until 2022, as announced in Tuesday’s Budget. The New South Wales government has come up with a novel idea in this context. Students landing here will have permission to stay in isolation in purpose-built housing in Sydney.

This Government scheme is all set to start in August, and universities will help international students to bear the cost of 14-day quarantine. The move is worthwhile for them as they struggle to regain their footing amid the pandemic, considering that international students generate a large chunk of their revenues.

The number of students coming to the country will be an addition to the current cap of 3,000 people per week. These mainly include returning Australians who are required to go into hotel quarantine after landing. Officials hope the permission for fast-tracked arrivals and quarantine relaxation will get international students back for the second semester this August.
