CANADA LAUNCHES NEW NATIONAL CREDENTIAL WALLET PLATFORM

The Association of Registrars of the Universities and Colleges of Canada has recently announced the launch of a new bilingual credential wallet, MyCreds™ | MesCertif™, for graduates and post-secondary learners. Students can use the wallet to securely access their post-secondary documents, transcripts and graduation awards and credentials. The national platform, along with the supporting website, is open to verifiers, employers and third-parties as well.

“Today is an exciting milestone for our national community and for Canadian post-secondary students and graduates in general as we progress to the next stage of providing a dedicated digital credential wallet for Canadian post-secondary students,” said Romesh Vadivel, president, ARUCC. He further stated, “We are on track to achieve our ultimate goal, which is the full launch of a national, secure digital network through which domestic and international students may share their official, digitised post-secondary transcripts and credentials.”

The innovative digital platform offers a personalised learner credential wallet that users can access 24/7. Other key features of MyCreds™ | MesCertif™ include bilingual service and support (English and French) and the ability to view, access, control and share the official transcripts, badges, credentials, micro-credentials and documents, all in a fully- digitised format anywhere and anytime.

The project is supported by two Vancouver based firms: Digitary, a globally-famed document issuing company, and Split Mango, a renowned Canadian website design firm. It was created by four organisations that collaborated through the ARUCC National Network Project. These include ARUCC, the Canadian University Council of Chief Information Officers, the Pan-Canadian Consortium on Admissions and Transfer, and the Canadian Postsecondary Electronic Standards Council User Group.

The provision of digitised credentials is going to serve immense benefits for learners across Canada, and specifically international students, during the pandemic situation, as it enables them to access their documents and verified credentials from anywhere and share them with anyone they choose. Since authenticity matters all the more for students from other countries, the trusted portal gets them a step ahead.
