LSAT TO BE CONDUCTED IN MULTIPLE SLOTS FROM MAY 29

The postponement of Class 12 Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and other state-level examinations in India has led to a change in LSAT exam dates. LSAC Global has announced that the 2021 LSAT—India will be conducted in multiple slots starting May 29. More than 5000 students have registered for the examination this year, and registration will close on May 14.

LAUNCH OF £7 MILLION GLOBAL SCREEN FUND IN THE UK

Culture Secretary Oliver Dowden launched a whopping £7 million Global Screen Fund to facilitate a global reach for British film and screen content. The fund is developed in collaboration with the British Film Institute (BFI), and it aims the support the independent screen sector in the country. It will help them export their productions to global markets and get recognition across the world.

NFU AWARDED £30,000 BY UK’S ROYAL ACADEMY OF ENGINEERING TO TEACH STEM THROUGH AGRICULTURE

The Royal Academy of Engineering has awarded a fund of £29,125 to the National Farmers’ Union (NFU) Education team. The aim is to deliver after-school club sessions for children to give them a better understating of a career in the agricultural engineering field. The step comes in the recognition of the value of STEM learning through agriculture and the role it plays in inspiring the new generation of engineers.

BEIJING- ONLINE EDUCATION FIRMS PENALISED FOR FALSE ADVERTISING

Beijing city has imposed hefty penalties of 500,000 yuan ($76,988) each on four online education agencies for using false advertising to mislead the customers. These include Koolearn Technology Holding Ltd (1797.HK), TAL Education Group (TAL.N), GSX Techedu Inc (GSX.N), and Gaosi. The institutions will have to pay the maximum fine for quoting false prices for their online courses.

SAUDI ARABIAN SCHOOLS INCLUDE RAMAYANA, MAHABHARATA IN THEIR SOCIAL SCIENCE SYLLABUS

Schools in Saudi Arabian will include Indian scriptures, including Ramayana, Mahabharata, and Gautam Buddha, in their social science syllabus. The changes are a part of the upcoming ‘Saudi Vision 2030’ initiative that aspires to drive diversity in the economy and boost public service sectors such as education, health, recreation, infrastructure, and tourism.

NEW COLLABORATION DELIVERS WELLINGTON COURSES TO FOR STUDENTS IN CHINA

The partnership between CUZ and Wellington University will bring a new opportunity for the students from CUZ in the city of Hangzhou, China, to connect with the Wellington Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences for online education. The classes will start in September under an undergraduate degree joint programme in Intercultural Communication.

NEW PR STREAMS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENT GRADUATES AND ESSENTIAL WORKERS IN CANADA

Canada is all set to launch new immigration programmes that will facilitate PR status for international student graduates and essential workers working in the country. The six new streams are time-bound and are a part of an initiative to fulfil the immigration targets amid the current travel restrictions. Applicants who have recently graduated from an eligible educational programme or are working in an eligible occupation in Canada can qualify.

SEVEN INTERNATIONAL STUDIES STUDENTS FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF MISSISSIPPI NAMED BOREN SCHOLARS

The University of Mississippi achieved yet another feat as seven students from its Croft Institute for International Studies have been acclaimed with the prestigious David L. Boren Scholarship. The recipients of this scholarship will get the opportunity to live in 39 countries across Asia, Africa, Latin America, Eurasia, Central and Eastern Europe, and the Middle East, and they will study thirty languages.

GLENVILLE STATE COLLEGE- SIX STUDENTS GET INTO INTERNATIONAL EDUCATION HONOUR SOCIETY

Six students from Glenville State College have made it into Kappa Delta Pi (KDP), international education honour society as its new members. Membership in the Kappa Omicron chapter is by invitation only. It has stringent requirements, such as being a part of the teacher education program, having a minimum of 12 credit hours in educational courses and a minimum of 30 credit hours of collegiate coursework, a cumulative grade-point average of over 3.0, and commendable personal qualities.

NOBEL LAUREATES TO TEACH YOUNG UC SCIENTISTS

The University of California recently announced the second year of UC President’s Lindau Nobel Laureate Meetings Fellows. The group brings together 30 aspiring scientists picked from the ten UC campuses and three national laboratories. These scientists will get the opportunity to attend invitation-only seminars and lectures with 40 international Nobel laureates.

TheJohns Hopkins University and Whiting School of Engineering has established the Ralph S. O’Connor Sustainable Energy Institute (ROSEI) with a $20 million gift from alumnus Ralph S. O’Connor’s estate. ROSEI will work on ongoing research and education focused on creating clean, sustainable, and renewable energy technologies.
