25 UNIVERSITIES IN GERMANY JOIN EUROPEAN UNIVERSITY NETWORKS PROJECT

As many as 25 universities in Germany have joined the European University Networks program. These include prestigious names like Humboldt-Universität zu Berlin, the Universität Hamburg and the Universität Mannheim. Twenty of these universities will receive EU funding, while the other five will be supported by the national program.

As the Brexit trade deal ends, Scotland and Wales are looking for alternatives to maintain the benefits of Erasmus. The UK has already left the study exchange scheme, which offers financial support for students studying abroad in all EU countries and others including Norway, Iceland, Israel, and Tunisia.

CHANDIGARH UNIVERSITY BECOMES THE FIRST IN INDIA TO SIGN MOU’s WITH 306 FOREIGN VARSITIES

Chandigarh University emerged as a leader in the international education space, as it became the first in the country to sign Memorandum-of-Understanding (MoUs) with the top 306 Universities in the world under the International Academic Alliance (IAA) flagship programme. More than 1200 students from various streams have already received the benefit of this programme.

 LSAT—INDIA 2021 RESCHEDULED DUE TO CBSE EXAMS

In a recent announcement, Law School Admission Council (LSAC) declared the rescheduling of the Law School Admission Test (LSAT) India. The date was moved from May 10 to June 14 to provide adequate preparation time to students registered for the CBSE Class 12 exams to be held in May.

CROWN FAMILY TO GIFT A WHOPPING $75 MILLION TO UNIVERSITY OF CHICAGO SOCIAL WORK SCHOOL

Investment magnates James and Paula Crown are donating a whopping amount of $75 million to the social work school of the University of Chicago. It is the largest gift in the history of American higher education. The university will honour the gesture by renaming the graduate school as the Crown Family School of Social Work, Policy, and Practice.

4 ASU STUDENTS BAG THE PRESTIGIOUS U.S. DEPARTMENT OF STATE FELLOWSHIPS

It is a glorious occasion for Arizona State University as four students bag the prestigious fellowships under the Rangel or Pickering programmes run by the U.S. Department of State. Three of them are recent graduates while one is a senior. Both programmes provide high-level internships and substantial financial support for graduate study.

STRONGER VIRUS SCREENING MEASURES IMPOSED ON INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS BY SOUTH KOREAN GOVERNMENT

A recent announcement by the education ministry of South Korea stated that all inbound international students have to undergo additional COVID testing within a day of their arrival. The objective is to protect the students and curb the community spread of the contagious virus.

GOOD NEWS FOR INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS AS CANADA EXTENDS WORK PERMITS AMID THE PANDEMIC

In a recent announcement, the Canadian government shared a plan that brought immense relief to international students in the country. Foreign nationals with an expired or soon-to-be-expired post-graduation work permit will be allowed to apply for an 18-month extension from January 27 onward.

NEW ZEALAND

 NZ HE CAMPUSES EXPECT 10,000 INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS AS “BEST CASE” FOR THIS YEAR

New Zealand universities are gearing up to bring students back on campus for the first semester in February, but the number of international students will see a drastic reduction. While around 21,000 international students would normally to commence their studies here at this time of year, but the best case expected this year is less than half that number.
