A report from Languages Canada stated that the language education sector in the country generated a whopping $6.7 billion in export revenues in 2019. It also created 75,000 jobs in the same year. The data included in the study is based on the numbers before the pandemic hit the sector. The sector shows immense future potential in the international education industry.

ILAC CANADA WILL REQUIRE COVID VACCINATION PROOF

Canadian English language school ILAC has stated that it will provide a vaccine passport to its students and staff from September to ensure safety at its campuses in Vancouver and Toronto. Individuals with proper vaccination proof will no longer have to provide a weekly negative rapid test result to access classes and activities on-campus. The statement coincided with the announcement of mandatory vaccinations by several major Canadian universities.

In a recent announcement, K12 operator GEMS Education stated that its high school students can explore the alternative to earn college credits. TAIWAN SUBMITS PROPOSAL FOR THE RETURN OF INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS

Taiwan’s ministry of education has submitted a proposal for the return of international students to the Central Epidemic Command Center. If the proposal gets through, around 13,000 international students without residence permits will be able to enter the country to get started with their education. Further, the government will prioritise students on degree courses and the recipients of the Huayu scholarship.

SCHOOLS IN TAMIL NADU TO REOPEN AFTER SEPTEMBER 6

With the extension of lockdown till September 06, 2021, schools in Tamil Nadu will open after its relaxations. They will commence for Classes 9 to 12 with strict Covid-19 guidelines in place. The decision related to reopening for Classes 1 to 8 will be taken after September 15. Colleges in the state are all set to reopen after September 1, while adhering to stringent SOPs.

In the latest development, 17 EU states and Switzerland have approved the Covishield vaccine and lifted travel bans on India. With this, international students and essential travellers can fly to these countries. The Indian government will prioritise international students by facilitating overseas travel for them.

UP GOVT MAY SHUT DOWN SCHOOLS AGAIN IF THE COVID SITUATION WORSENS

Even as the UP government reopens schools for physical classes, officials stated that attendance will not be compulsory. Moreover, schools may close again in the event of the worsening of the COVID situation. The vaccines for children are still not available, and they may come to the market after September. The situation will get relatively better once children are inoculated.
